Long before Coleen Greco became known as the Joyologist, she was searching for joy of her own.

Armed with an MBA in marketing, Coleen entered the corporate world in the late 90’s. During those years, she rose through the ranks to become a leader in information technology marketing. Along the way, though, she was suffering – her job provided no enjoyment and, most importantly, her family was struggling interpersonally and in need of help and healing.

Coleen and her family found a way to begin the process of healing by focusing their attention on finding joy in each moment. “In the early days of our recovery, it was about only the next minute,” said Coleen. “There was no looking to the next week or the next month. It was all about finding the joy in everything. So as a family, we committed to try to find the positive, not to cover up or forget about what had happened, but to see things differently.”

Becoming the role model

As her family traveled a road to recovery, Coleen knew it was also time to focus on a shift in her career. “If I was going to be a good role model for my family, I needed to get my act together,” Coleen said. “I just knew I needed something significantly different to focus on as I entered 2023. My job had crushed my soul. I was lost in every way I could possibly conceive, and I needed to connect to my purpose.”

Six years earlier, Coleen met Melanie Spring when the company for which she worked hired Melanie as a guest speaker. After Melanie's presentation Coleen thought, “I’m going to walk up to her and I’m just going to tell her she’s amazing.”

So she did, and Melanie and Coleen kept in touch over the years that followed. Then in the latter part of 2022, Coleen saw a social media post giving the details of Melanie’s upcoming event, The Remembering (formerly known as The Brilliant Rebels Experience), to be held in June 2023. “I was slowly dying inside, feeling like I made a massive mistake re-entering the corporate world after a hiatus, and I knew that if I was going to go back out on my own, full-time, I needed a major shift in my thinking. Enter Melanie Spring. She posted the event and I bit. Hard!” Coleen signed up immediately.

Taking the leap

Prior to The Remembering, Coleen made the decision that she would quit her job after the event was over. Instead, Coleen reflects, “Before the program even started, I resigned from my job. I knew life was too short. I had no idea how much fear was driving my thoughts and actions, but the confidence I felt as I resigned was so incredible. I didn’t need them. I had a new path and it was time to get moving.”

Coleen had made a major change from working in a corporate job to going out on her own. Yet she still desired the confidence and support to keep things moving in a positive direction. “I needed somebody in my corner, somebody who believed in me, somebody who saw my potential, which I thought was in me, but I didn’t necessarily see it clearly. And that’s definitely what Melanie brings, and a group that you can bond with. There was something about the group – we were so well bonded and the group had been carefully curated. It was such a supportive and amazing environment that I have never before experienced in my life.”

Through The Remembering, Coleen began to step into her purpose, building a life based on her authentic self. “I learned so much about connecting my head to my heart. There were so many instances where I felt massive shifts. I discovered self love again. I let go of some major limiting beliefs. I pushed myself so far outside of my comfort zone, and I’m not sure I could even tell you where those boundaries are anymore. I learned so much about people, how they show up in my life and what they can teach me.”

The Joyologist is unleashed

Today, Coleen’s life is full of joy. She founded and hosts a TV show and podcast titled Joy Unleashed. She also coaches women who feel lost, stuck, unsure of their purpose.  in. Now known as the Joyologist, Coleen supports people that are looking to reclaim the joy they feel is missing in their lives.

When asked about the difference between happiness and joy, Coleen said, “I believe joy is a state of mind –a choice– and happiness comes as the result of something. Somebody gives you a compliment and you’re happy, and then you go back to whatever you were doing. Joy is a conscious choice. You can always look at things differently. And I think that is what this whole experience has taught me is that the world is so much bigger and your brain is so much bigger than you give yourself credit for, and you really do have the ability to architect your own life at any time.  It just takes you putting one foot on your path toward your potential”

Summing up her experience with Melanie, Coleen says, “Transformative? I feel like that word is getting watered down lately, so maybe revolutionary or evolutionary. Ground-breaking! Mind-blowing!”
