Advice is a tricky monkey
When someone finds out I have the gift of seeing people for who they will be, they ask: “Will you tell me what you see for me?”
Listen–I used to tell people what I saw until I realized that most people didn’t really want to know. Why? Because they wanted to find it for themselves.
A few years ago, I was exercising my gift to the max. People would come to me for advice and I’d give it to them. They’d ask directly and tell me they wanted to see what I saw.
And you know what I found out? They weren’t being honest.
Because my truth wasn’t what they wanted to hear. They wanted to find it for themselves.
They didn't really want advice, they wanted me to give them a shortcut.
This gift I have has also been a curse.
I’ve seen potential in employees who never wanted to step fully into themselves and been terribly disappointed.
I’ve become best friends with someone’s future self, truly believing they were the person I saw when I could have slowed down and found that I was getting ahead of myself.
I’ve dated men who I could tell were going to be magical–someday. Until I found out I was with someone who wasn’t even interested in growing.
I’ve even told clients what I saw for them and they laughed at me. Then three years later they’re doing the thing I once mentioned. Not because I told them but because they got to the answer on their own.
We all have to come to our answer on our own.
And you know what I finally realized?
My truth is NOT the answer.
Sharing what I see only comes from my ego. Sure, my intuition may be right, but who gives me the power to change someone’s destiny?
I don’t share what I see anymore. I can only share my insights, my perspective, and my own experience or the experience of others. You have to decide what to do with that.
That said, I’m hosting an Ask Me Anything (Except to be subtle) tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1:15pm ET and since last week’s conversation was so powerful, I wanted to be sure you knew it was there for you.
When I say ask me anything, I mean ANYTHING. About branding, marketing or entrepreneurship. About plant medicine, healing, or personal growth.
You ask, we dive in & see what happens.
What I always notice is that every person who shows up is there for the others, so is it your turn to bring your questions and see who shows up to give you insight into finding your own answer?
